Great American's roots go back to the 1800's with the founding of Great American Insurance Company in 1872, based in New York City. Now in Cincinnati Ohio. Great American Insurance Company, one of the oldest insurance companies in the United States, and the Cincinnati Reds, America's first professional baseball team, joined forces in 2000. The two organizations announced a 30-year agreement under which the new home of the Reds will be named "Great American Ball Park".
